84 SCRI Brand Identity Guidelines 3.0 2026 Table of Contents Closed captions are text displays of spoken dialogue and sound effects that ensure video content is accessible to all viewers. Captions not only serve the deaf and hard-of-hearing community but also benefit viewers who process information better through text, those watching in noisy environments, and non-native English speakers seeking to better understand complex medical concepts. Captions should use Arial at a minimum size of 18 pt. and a high color contrast ratio between the text and background. This is typically achieved through white text on a semi-transparent black background. ADA Closed Captions Video 6.1
